The Clear Skin Diet

I don't know anyone with perfect skin. I have acne scarring from my teenage years and never really tried to fix it. I don't think it's too late to try and look your best. These foods can help you get clearer skin. But as always if you're needing more see a dermatologist to get medical advice. Image via deactivatedfatgirl.com

Operation Weight Loss Week 13

Here we are with another week of Operation Weight Loss! Last week I didn't weigh in because I was on my period, I never weigh on those days. So I had to wait a couple of days. So here is a video of this past week. Here are some bullet points from the video

  • Weight Loss
  • Insanity
  • Ninja Blender
  • Clothes Shopping
  • Less Makeup
  • Cheat Meals
  • Bloat

Last time I weighed in at 129, Now I am 130. I am not mad about this pound since I just got off my period. We will see where I am come this friday. Despite the scale I look and feel great! I bought sizes in clothing that I haven't seen in over a year. I bought a swear suit in a small! I haven't worn a small in sweats since after I had my daughter 4 years ago! So yeah the scale can kiss my ass LMAO

I love working out, I love this journey, and I can't see myself going back to where I was. I've worked to hard to get this point, and it can only get better!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is a very important month for me and for my family.

Remember to check yourself, and/or go to your dr and get checked. You can never be too careful! As a person who had a very serious breast cancer scare 2 years ago I am always checking to make sure I am good to go.

If breast cancer runs in your family ask your dr for a mammogram. Be safe, be healthy, be happy!

Operation Weight Loss Week 12

The weeks seem to fly by! I'm already on 12 weeks of working out and 2 weeks of Insanity are done! Insanity is still kicking every part of my ass, and I'm loving it. I look forward to it, because the results are worth feeling like you're going to die. The second week did get easier then the first because my muscles are used to doing some of the same exercises, but the tiredness is still there. Nonetheless I've been working hard through all of it.

If you follow me on instagram, after every workout I post how many calories I've burned. It's a lot of calories, but it takes a lot to burn them. I am proud of every calorie I burn because it means I worked hard. The more calories the better!

This week as far as food goes has been the same. I stated in my last blog post that I got a Ninja Blender. Still working flawlessly the second day. My smoothie is damn near perfection and I couldn't ask for anything better. I plan on shredding some chicken in that thing later on this coming week, and I'll film a video for that.

So how many pounds did I lose? Last week when I weighed in I weighed in at 133.4 this week I am 129.2!!!!! All I wanted was half a pound! and I got 4. I was in a plateau and broke through that thing with a vengeance. Im not mad though, I'm proud of my hard work. Here's a video of me talking about it. Filmed yesterday

Ninja Professional Blender - First Impression

Over the past few years, Ive gone through about 4 blenders. My first one was a GE and that lasted a long time, cause I hardly used it. Well when I started making smoothies everyday. The motor went out on it (it started smoking!) so I went and got a single serve one. That lasted about a week. I used my food processor for a while, then got a Hamilton Beach Wave system. Well it took about 30 minutes to blend a smoothie (AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!)

I took it back and got an Oster one for a little bit more money. At first I liked it it, then when I would use it, I would have to stop it, push the fruit to the bottom, watch it go, then do it again. This was so damn annoying. Well I finally decided to break down, spend more money for a good quality blender.

I looked at the Blendtec and Vitamix, and unless those blenders plan  on doing my shopping plus blending then Im not shelling out that kind of money. I read about the Ninja Blender and read a lot of good reviews on it. The price is $99 not bad considering the other higher options.

I saw it in stores and really like how it looked. Very sleek, modern, and looks very expensive. Here is how its different from any other blender.
  • 1000 watts (its powerful)
  • It not only has blades on the bottom but in the middle, and at the top (this makes blending, chopping, juicing, easier)
  • The container is huge (72oz, and 9 cups) shouldn't be a problem mixing everything you need.
  • The lid locks, and has a spout! This blender will not operate without being locked. Which is a good thing. I also love the spout because now you can pour things without spilling stuff everywhere. This is more for liquid though. My smoothie is too thick to pour.
  • Easy to clean. The blade is removeable, so now you wont cut yourself cleaning the container
Now my first impression of the blender
  • It takes a little long to blend, but I don't have to push anything to the bottom. I let it do its thing and it blended nicely
  • My smoothie was so smooth!! not one piece of chunk anywhere.
  • Cleaned with no effort. I washed it and looks just like new
  • Its a little loud, but not over the top loud
  • Its very tall! it still fits on my counter nicely and doesnt interfere with the top cabinets.
  • I love how it has to have the lid locked before blending
My first impression is a good one. The best part about this is that you can make so much stuff in here. I can even shred chicken, make guacamole, and salsa!!! I cant wait to try all of this and more. With that said the price doesnt seem to be that bad. I will do a final review one I try more things on it.

Do any of you have any Ninja Products?

Fasting: and its benefits

I was on Instagram (like I always am) and someone, I can't remember who posted a picture about fasting and the benefits. I'm not new to the concept of fasting. I know a lot of different people do it, for different reasons. I just never thought enough of it to actually do it until recently.

My husband usually fasts once a week anywhere from 24-48 hours. He does it to lose water weight or to give his body a rest. I read that fasting is good for the digestive system, and gives you more energy. These were my main two reasons for fasting.

We're in a culture where food is everywhere and we think we need food all the time. Sometimes our intestines work overtime and, sometimes it just needs a break. So fasting can be great for your body and digestive system. If you do it right that is.

I wanted to give my body a rest because this past Sunday I had some pizza, and wanted my body to recover from all the calories. So Monday evening at 5pm I decided to fast until Tuesday 5pm, so 24 hours. My plan was to not eat anything but drink of a lot of liquid since my body was going to be without food for a long period of time.

I drank water and low calorie juices, and felt pretty good. I started getting hunger pangs around 3pm Tuesday. But made it all the way until 5 pm. I was pretty proud of myself for actually sticking through until the 24 hour mark. I don't know how often I will do this, I want to say once a week but I can't commit to that, right now. Well I can but I might not want to do it next week.

One important thing to remember if you do decide to fast is make sure you are very hydrated. Drink lots of liquids, water fills me up pretty good and you can never have too much water!

With all that said here are the benefits of fasting along with what I said. Have any of you fasted before?

Healthy Easy Snack or Meal Recipe

I came across a picture on fitsugar.com and it showed some ham with egg in it, baked inside of a muffin tin. I thought "what a great idea for a snack!" so I picked up a muffin tin (Im probably the only person who did not own a muffin tin before today) and decided to give it a try. Here is what I used but you can easily use any meat you want, and any condiment.
  • Turkey (great value brand is only 20 calories a slice)
  • Egg Beaters (this is a great alternative to eggs, but you can use eggs in a shell)
  • Salsa (I had some salsa in a can and used that, but you can use any kind of salsa you want or none)
Directions
  • Coat muffin pan with a non stick spray
  • Fold turkey in half place in muffin tin
  • Put one serving of egg beaters (3 table spoons) or one egg into the turkey
  • Then put one table spoon of salsa into the egg beaters
  • Put in the oven at 400 degrees let cook for 10-15 minutes, maybe longer depending on how well cooked you want your meat
Thats it! You can eat these right out of the oven (be careful!) or put them in the fridge for a cold snack. I had them hot and cold and they are good either way. I had 2 and they are pretty filling and the best part of all is that each one is only about 60 calories!

You can add spinach or any other veggie. you can also leave out the salsa, or ad a milder one. This is a recipe where you cant really go wrong! these could also work as party favors, or get your kids to help you make up their own concoctions, they'll love it!

I hope you enjoyed this healthy easy recipe. Hopefully I'll have more in the future.

Operation Weight Loss Week 8 and 10

So sorry I haven't updated lately! if you follow me on Youtube then you will know the results of these videos, if not here they are.

This week I started Insanity, and it is insane!!! But I have to stop because my rotator cuff is damaged (more on that in week 10 video) I do love the exhausted feeling, because that means I am getting results. But dammit I can't do it right now. I do have a dr's appointment on the 15th and until then Im taking it easy (still working out just not insanity) Hopefully it's nothing to drastic, and I'll be back to normal soon.

My food intake is the same, but I've been bad on my water intake...I'll fix that soon. Besides that I've been watching my calories and doing good. I have upped my food intake though, eating more throughout the day to keep my metabolism high, and it's working. Now how much have I lost.

Well in week 8 I weighed in at 132.4. Today I am 131.2!!! so a pound and 2 ounces, not too shabby!

Im slowly getting there, its just gonna take time. As soon as my shoulder is taken care of, I'll go hard as usual.
