DIY Colored Jeans

I was reading my daily beauty blogs and came across this blog post

DIY Colored Skinny Jeans http://www.lizmarieblog.com/2012/06/diy-colored-skinny-jeans/

I squealed with happiness! How cute are her DIY jeans? I already had a pit of blue skinny jeans I got from Platos Closet, that I paid about $5 for. As much as I loved the fit, I didn't care for the color so I decided to use these as an experiment.

I followed her instructions and their turned out pretty good. I love this idea for turning old clothes into brand new clothes or even thrusting and making the color you want. Great way to save money! So here is what you need

1. A large bucket
2. Bleach (if your clothing is already white skip this)
3. RIT dye

Here are the instructions

1. In a large bucket (5 gallons preferably) put 3 gallons of water.
2. 3 cups of bleach (1 cup of bleache for every gallon of water)
3. Put jeans in bucket and stir to make sure the beach spreads around.
4. Let sit for as long as you need.

I let mine sit overnight and still had a couple of blue spots. This didn't bother me because I love the look overall. Here is what you do after the bleaching

1. Put your pants in the washing machine
2. Turn on water to the hot setting
3. Pour dye into washer, let it run like you would normally would.
4. Wash again. This will get all the extra due off.
5. Dry and that's it!

Make sure you follow the instructions on the bottle and wash the washing machine with bleach and detergent!!

  3. I was wondering if your jeans where weak or ripped easy, because every time I do it, they come out weak and rip in the washer.

  4. @marisol. I've washed these a few times since dying them, and haven't had any problems with ripping
